Job description

Phelps Pet Products is a highly regarded branded and contract manufacturer of specialty meat-based pet treats. Founded over 55 years ago, Phelps Pet Products has earned a well-deserved reputation as a trusted and innovative partner to some of the best-known and best-loved brands in the market! We provide industry-leading full-service capabilities, organic certification, category knowledge, and end-to-end delivery to customers throughout North America and around-the-world from our facilities in Rockford, Illinois.

We are looking for a motivated, self-directed, and capable Inventory manager/Analyst who will collaborate with our sales, operations, and finance teams to use data analysis to ensure we have the right products in inventory to service our growing customer demand across all retail distribution channels. The person would join a highly collaborative headquarters team that helps develop, market, and sell products in over 50,000 retail stores throughout North America. Strong Excel and ERP/data warehouse experience is important to success, as is the ability to anticipate, ask questions, and be willing to wear many "hats" to help the Company meet/exceed customer expectations.

Inventory Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and improving the company's inventory situation by analyzing inventory statistics to determine which products are selling and which are not.
  • Allocating inventory to the correct departments as it comes into the warehouse and arranging for pickups and shipments.
  • Performing extensive research on a wide range of inventory-related reports, from previous inventory reports to national purchasing trends.
  • Performing regular inventory counts.
  • Drafting inventory reports that document inventory counts, discrepancies, and other statistical data.
  • Reporting inventory statistics to management and suggesting improvements to inventory control.
  • Coordinating with other workers to resolve discrepancies between inventory and revenue.
  • Creating and maintaining inventory databases and systems for accurately managing inventory.

Each day will bring with it new adventures, challenges, and successes as you help us innovate in a category that is recession-proof, has eclipsed $100 Billion in annual sales, and has become essential to well over 60 million U.S. households.

Key success factors include: high-energy, results-driven, excellent attention to detail, highly organized, project manager, consistent and effective communicator, works well with internal and external partners, and is a resilient and creative problem solver. If you enjoy innovating and helping re-define a category -- and if you like to make an impact and see the results of your efforts in-stores, online, and in people's homes -- then this could be an awesome opportunity for you!

Compensation will be competitive and based on your capabilities and experience. We have a very good set of employee benefits, a 401K matching program, and competitive health care coverage. The position will be dual based in Rockford, IL and Janesville, WI.
